BK's blog
- Family:
So I'm going to give this whole blogging thing a shot again.
When I did it about a year ago, I had a number of people commenting on how much they liked my blogs and such. I plan on blogging at least every week. I try hard to make what I have to say worthwhile and not trite. The kinds of things I like to talk about in my blogs include (in order of preference):
1. God and church and that kind of stuff (I like to challenge myself and others, and I PARTICULARLY like challenging the religious status quo).
2. My family (My family is AMAZING and I have some incredible moments with my wife and kids that change my view of the world many times).
3. Music (the way certain songs affected me, ways of teaching, things I've gathered along the way regarding music training and performance).
4. Web stuff (I build web stuff primarily using the Content Management System 'Drupal' and love it. It's not perfect, but when used properly, it's an incredible time saver).
5. My new business/life endeavors (I'm definitely going through some major life changes regarding my income. I'll be attempting to journal this).
6. Other addictions (geocaching, scrabble, TV shows, web junk, etc. - this will probably be my "fallback" when I'm not feeling as philosophical/insightful!)
For my first Blog I am going to jump straight to number 6. I love http://www.despair.com. I have a wonderful calendar up on the wall to the right of me that was built through despair.com. As I look up, I find it ironic and interesting that this month is this one: http://despair.com/blogging.html. If you don't want to follow the link, it's a picture of a person sitting out on a precipice in what appears to be an Arizona or New Mexico desert, typing on a laptop. The caption reads, "Never Before Have So Many People with So Little to Say Said So Much to So Few". This kind of encapsulates my reason for giving up on blogging. So, if you start following my blog at my site or are just reading the notes through Facebook, let me know that my stuff is NOT a waste of time, and I'll be more likely to continue doing this and/or doing this more often. I've decided to pick blogging back up for the same reason I've heard Stephen King writes horror - if he didn't, he'd go nuts. So I'm doing this whole thing primarily for me, but if anything I write means something to someone, or someone else relates to what I'm going through, or even if someone cared enough to disagree with what I wrote, then it becomes even more meaningful to me.
I promise not to ramble TOO terribly long from blog to blog. If you think this is at all interesting, feel free to subscribe. You can subscribe through facebook or through my website feed.
I've also discovered that people enjoy posting crap comments when they see an opportune venue, so I will be previewing all comments posted to my website. I will ALWAYS post comments whether they agree or disagree with whatever I said, I just won't subject people to stupid, meaningless comments that are unrelated to my site or blog.
I hope you have an AWESOME week!
