Scrabble!

This is the place to go when you want to track your online Scrabble games and any other Scrabble type games (Lexulous, Word Scraper, etc.). You need to create a completely free account, then log in and start creating Scrabble Distribution Pages! What is a Scrabble Distribution Page? How does this work? What's the catch? Keep reading!

What is a Scrabble Distribution Page?

A Scrabble Distribution Page is a page that allows you to enter the tiles that have been played and the tiles that are sitting on your rack. It then tracks useful information, like what tiles are left in the bag, how many are vowels, how many are consonants, how many are "power tiles", etc. It also allows you to enter the tiles that are on your rack, and have the arrangement saved for future reference. It also allows you to write down any notes you'd like to take and saves them for you. I created this feature mostly because I like playing Scrabble on Facebook, and there is no place to write this kind of information. I've had a few times where I came up with a bingo, or a killer place to play a word, but I forgot to write it down, and when my opponent finally played a day later I'd forgotten! I hope you will find the same usefulness out of this application that I tried to create for myself.

How does this work?

When you first log in or when you click on "My Account", it will take you to your user page. At the bottom of the page you will see a link to click that will take you to a brand new Scrabble Distribution Page. You can always find this link, plus any Distribution Pages you've created, by going to "My Account", this page, or scrolling to the bottom of any of your Scrabble Distribution Pages. You begin in an "Edit" page. This page allows you to set the rules of your page. You MUST enter a title for your game (this will help you keep your games straight when you have multiple games going at once.) You can have the vowels and power letters show up in color to make them stand out a little more, you can set the amount of tiles to remove from the virtual bag to represent the tiles sitting on your opponent's rack, and you can click on "Tile Distribution" to change the initial distribution of tiles. These parameters default to a regular Scrabble game, but can be changed to represent some other games like Lexulous and Word Scraper. Once you are happy with the settings, scroll to the bottom and click "Save". If you decide to change any of the initial settings like the coloring of letters, you can click "Edit" at the top of your page to get back to the Edit function.

Once you have saved your page, you will see a main page with lots of information and a few places to enter information. You can check to set the page to "Add Tiles" or "Remove Tiles". You would typically remove tiles as they are played, but you may swap tiles or make a mistake when removing, which is why the "Add Tiles" option is available. Once you have set it to add or remove, make sure the spinning update circle to the right has disappeared, indicating the option has been saved. Certain browsers require you to click somewhere else on the screen to see the update circle and update the choice. After the circle has disappeared, type the letters you'd like to add or remove in the field under that. You can capitalize them or keep them lower case, add spaces, etc. To indicate a blank tile, enter ? or _. Once you have all the tiles you want to enter, click , or click anywhere outside of the field. You will see the spinning update circle again. Once it has disappeared, you can click the "Update Distribution" button and all of the fields will update to reflect your changes.

Down toward the bottom you can enter the tiles from your rack. You can actually enter just about anything you want, though that space was intended to keep track of your rack of tiles. You can also enter notes in the section below that: things like potential bingoes, great places to play, your plays, your opponent's plays, whatever you want. Then click outside of the input area, wait for the spinning update circle to go away, and your information will been saved. You can also set the game status to Active, Completed, or Postponed. When you see your list of games, they will be sorted based on the status of the game initially. This will keep your active games near the top and allow you to store games and keep them out of the way until you need them.

What's the catch?

No catch. If you've ever seen the Scrabble Discussion boards, you may have seen some of my posts. I just love the game. At some point I might put up a place for you to donate if you really like this application, but I do not plan to EVER charge for the use of this site, nor do I plan to stick up a bunch of advertisements. I will, at some point, have a discussion board here that I will monitor and moderate, but for the time being, feel free to leave any comments, encouragements, suggestions, etc. below. COMMENTS WILL BE PROOFED BEFORE THEY ARE POSTED. This is NOT a way of censoring honest discussion, this is to discourage spam.

I hope you enjoy this app! Oh, and yes, I CAN see your pages if I choose to, but I won't unless there's a problem. I don't want any of my Public Opponents worrying that I would look at their pages to gain an advantage. That would take all the fun out of playing and would be worse than using a word generator or an iPhone cheat!!! ;)
