OK, everyone! I think it’s about time to run another OMGIC contest!!! For those who don’t know, OMGIC stands for “Oh My Goodness It’s Cold!” The goal is to get the highest point total before the end of winter. Highest point total gets a prize!!! Points are determined like this:
- The competition is for getting the most points on ONE CACHE.
- It MUST be below freezing for the high for the day.
- Terrain rating times 2. So if it is a 2.5 star terrain cache, it is worth 5 points.
- Add Difficulty rating. If it is a 3.5 difficulty rating, you add 3.5 points. In this example, you now have 8.5 points.
- Add a point if it is a multi-cache. If this were a multi, you would now have 9.5 points.
- Multiply by the degrees below freezing (Fahrenheit). I will be keeping track and posting the daily HIGHS for Columbus according to weather.com and their point value (if it is 29 degrees for the high, 3 points). I will only post for days that are below freezing. If you cache on a day that is below freezing, you get points for that day! In our example, your final point total is 28.5.
The last date will be the day before the final Game and Klatch in March.
Some rules:
- Only caches found in Ohio or out of state caches where it is AT LEAST as cold as it is here count. And the points for the day are the Ohio points – so no going to Antarctica and scoring a boatload of points on a day that’s not as cold here in Ohio! And no caching in Florida while we’re all freezing up here!
- Remember, it is based on the high for the day you logged the cache. This is a friendly game… please don’t cheat.
- If a puzzle or other type of cache is CLEARLY a sort of multi-cache, the bonus point can be awarded. It’s my game, I’ll make the ruling.
- If it takes you more than one day to find a cache, the day you LOG THE CACHE is the day that counts. Again, please don’t cheat.
- In order to win, you will need to come to the closing event and bring your score. If there are extenuating circumstances (you’re going out of town, etc.) and you REALLY want to play, you’ll need to talk to me (KBLAST) beforehand and get me your score beforehand. If you just don’t want to come to the event because it’s too cold outside, YOU LOSE!!!
